g35 sound?

yeah, sorry about that, i missed the "just" because I was so shocked when you said v10s sounded like poo 
. Of course mufflers and exhaust aren't dedicated just for sound. Flow characteristics and emissions >>> sound for engineers. Oh, and 
at you not hearing nice high revving v10s. If you went to the f1 races when the v10s were still around, you would be in for a treat. I went to montreal this year and although the v8s screamed, it wasn't nearly as amazing as when the v10s were around (engine configuration is one of largest factors in how the car sounds, especially in f1, where exhausts are just made to perform and nothing else). My uncle's friend owns the first manual e60 M5 and it sounds amazing even in stock form.

Yes, will sound different, think Mustang vs. Civic. Or EVO vs. STI (subies have a really distinct sound). And believe me, no matter how hard anyone tries, your car will never sound liek a Ferrari . Hell, some people buy certain cars because of the noise it makes, a lot of the 5.0>GM 350 small block people just like the sound better (I'm not one, I don't like the sound of a car breaking down, zing).

Exotic car makers spend quite a bit of time developing the exhaust notes of their vehicles. It's not just like an F430 was built and it magically sounds like previous Ferraris. Even more evident that the F430 has removable baffles in the factory mufflers so the owner can "tune" it's exhaust note.
Honda has just started caring about the exhaust notes of their "performance" vehicles. The Current Civic Si's, the Just released Accord EXV6-6MT, and the Upcoming S2000 CR are examples.

I've seen 350z's and g35's with aftermarket exhausts, yet they still sound nearly the same as they did with their factory exhausts. Look out for one with aftermarket exhausts and you'll see that it really has to do with the engine they all share.

Personally I agree with you, I don't like the sound of a V10 in general but there have been some exceptions. I think the Viper sounds like junk, myself.

I love the exhaust notes out of the VQ engines... such a nice sound that has presence. The closest thing to that would be the HKS Hi-Power. It won't sound exactly like that but it has a very sexy noise that's even better IMO.
