I got my s2k for about a week. I want to buy a Radar Detecter for me baby. I live in Ohio. I wonder what kind of detecter should i get? V1? or 8500? or something else. Cops here trend to use Laser Gun more. give me some advice please. Thanx.

 

Search the Electronics forum for opinions on these two detectors. You will find opinions on both but I think the V1 has more votes for it than the 8500.

I have never owned a V1 but has a friend that has one. I do own a Passport 8500.

Directional Arrows to show you where cops are
Big and not easy to hide

Passport 8500
Small compact unit
No directional arrows but does show frequence and number of bogeys
Small and easier to mount in my opinion

Personally I think they are about even. The directional arrows don't mean squat to me. All I need to know is that I am on radar. I really don't think you can make a bad decision between the two. I chose the 8500 simply because it was smaller and 100 dollars cheaper with similar performance.
