Kay's my dealership as well. I know that one of the yellows is still the first yellow they received back in November. As for the rest, I think they are just gearing up for the spring. When I was on the lot in late January they only had the one yellow.

I still haven't see a yellow on the road yet in my area. I'm expecting them to start poping up soon.

BTW my service experiences with Kay Honda have been first rate thus far.

Starbrd:

WELCOME BACK, MAN! I missed you! I wondered if you were still lurking on the board!

To the rest of you guys, I know this is off topic, but Starbrd is one of the original Honda-Acura crew from the very, very early days....

A while back my dealer had two low mileage '00 models. This same dealer had sold them originally but bought them back when the owners expressed extreme disappointment in the stook. It seems that one thought the ride too rough while the other complained that it was difficult to drive and talk on his cell phone at the same time. Go figure.

By the way, the dealer was asking $37,500 for each of these cars with about 4k miles on each one.

I agree with the market softening some. I'm in FL & have found a rural FL dealer & small GA dealer selling for MSRP on an order & $500 under for units on the lot. Larger markets ie., Jacksonville & Orlando are still $2k to $7k over MSRP. The GA dealer has had a red on his lot for 5 months & a loaded Silver 00 with 13K miles took him 7 months to sell at $29,900! Even though he's in a small town I'm surprised that the red hasn't sold. The weather here is suitable for top down driving 9 months out of the year. My problem is I'm needing one from the last of the 01's (lease is up in Aug) & White at that. I'm supposed to hear from a few dealers in May when summer delivery allocations are given. I'll be making my deposit then. If only my lease had ended in January.... Anyone with good experiences in AL, GA or FL let me know who they are & how to get in touch with them.

There isn't enough of a glut in Phoenix yet. Two dealers are quoting 2-3 months to get one in. A third dealer just contacted me with a quote $3k over MSRP.

Since I refuse to pay more than MSRP, it looks like I will stuck with my old Mazda for a while.

Anyone in Phoenix or Arizona got any tips on a dealer who doesn't gouge?

Thanks Sondra S2K, you're right, I'm one of the S2K originals and still the oldest (70) member. Since mine doesn't get used between November and March I'm just past 6K miles at this point.

I think that Kay Honda probably does not feel pressure to sell these and is waiting till the weather gets warmer and people think about driving with the top down. I was able to drive top down twice this week, even though it was barely over 50.

NJTom2000, the yellows on the lot still have the shipping protection on, the one he had in the showroom is not among them.

Call a dealer that you know has the car you want in stock and on the ground. Ask for the fleet manager. Don't discuss any previous dialouge about pricing that you've had with that dealership. Tell the fleet manager that you are about to purchase the car out of state for MSRP (many are available...) and if he will match that price, you'll buy his today. Be prepared to close the deal within 24 hours.

Fleet managers, in general, are no-bullshit guys who are used to giving very competitive prices without all the traditional negotiation BS prevelant in car dealers.
