Update:
On both my S2000 and CRV the adjustment was definitely necessary.
However, the only difference I've noticed so far is that there is no travel in the pedal before the throttle responds.
Not that there's more power when driving normally, but knowing there is as much as possible at WOT is great.

Thanks for the tip! Mine had about 3/4" to 1" slack. There is a little difference when starting off in 1st gear. It's not as hesitant as it used to be. Toe/heel shifting is waaay better now. I don't have to press my heel in as far as I used to match revs. I can actually roll my foot over, instead of using my heel.

Before any of you started turning adjustment nuts did you check and see if you were getting full throttle when the pedal was pressed to the floor? I'm wondering if the butterfly is opening all the way with 3/4 to an inch of slack. If you take up that slack, does the butterfly open all the way before the pedal reaches the floor? If so, when you floor the pedal you may be forcing the butterfly beyond the wide open position or you may be stretching the bejeezus out of your cable.

I adjusted it last night. My car has about 7,000 miles on it. It had a ton of slack, almost double what it should like a wet noodle. Now, I have it tight, just enough tension right before it makes the car idle any higher than stock (1,000 rpm), with just about no slack. There is NO play in my pedal at ALL now. You touch it and it rev's.
THE TEST DRIVE:
I no longer jerk/bogg first gear. This made a huge difference in my case as 1st gear has always been a pain.
