Good enough for me
Hi everyone,
After a recent chicagoland s2k meet, I realized that my stock s2k is good enough for me (I guess I'm not as hardcore as I thought I was). But I really do like the sound and look of an aftermarket exhaust.
My question:
Can I just get a new muffler instead of a new exhaust if all I'm interested in is a louder and deeper growl as well as a better look? I've seen that mufflers are a lot cheaper than a full exhaust system, which is perfect b/c I blew all my money on my car itself.
I don't really care for more horsepower...240 really is good enough for me.
Will a muffler alone take away power?
any advice would be appreciated.

What's your price range? Sure you can change just the mufflers, there are numerous ones available, I think there is another thing to consider with changing an entire exhaust though, you may go with a setup that's not designed to give you more power, but it can reduce several pounds of weight.
I know with most exhaust systems out there, they really dont do much for hp increase. The S was actually pretty pushed for all it can give stock. I dont even know what kind of HP increase my HK$ gave me, but like you...I dont really care. I just basically got it for the sound. Dont get me wrong, I do want more power, but I love the way the HK$ sounds.Defiantely if you can, look around at others exhaust systems. You may like one over the other, but it's hard for someone to say what exhaust you can like. After all it is your car, and a decision that you will have to live with.
Check out http://www.teamspugen.com Good prices, great looks, great sound, and awesome performancing exhaust and to top it off they are a board sponser.

I'm a big fan of the spugen dual oval exhaust. Looks classy and gives a nice rumble.
