Got flagged down at a stop light
My mothers miata has had a few problems within the last year, I agree that honda has better reliability. I'm on my 3rd honda and none of them ever gave me problems. First was a 88 prelude and I drove that until 150k until the auto trans. went, never any motor problems though. I think the extra 10k is worth it for the S, the miata doesn't have the same cockpit feel to it. The miata is also a chic car.

Power tops, power windows, power door locks, power mirrors, cruise control, ABS, A/C and so on are not to be found on a true sports car. I'm just getting older and I want those conveniences now, but I didn't want to end up in some boring slushbox. The S2K is the perfect "compromise" car for me at this point in my life.
Performance makes the sports car, getting with a few amenities doesn't change that. Maybe your confusing sports car with race car. Two different things.

I think you can find a Geo without all the amenities you listed.
It is hard to define a sports car, but you know when you are driving one.

Jeez, I guess the Porche 911, Vette, viper, various Ferrari's, blah blah blah aren't true sports cars. Jeez was I mistaken

No, you're confusing what a sports car really is, and what popular conception of what one is due to decades of misuse as a sales and ego buzzword.
If you are suggesting that we cannot call a Corvette, Viper, Ferrari, Porsche, etc. a Sport Car, could you please provide the correct terminology to use?

Let me guess-
Must be uncomfortable to sit in.
Rock hard suspension.
Lots of wind noise.
Unreliable.
Drafty with the top up.
Expensive to repair.
Crappy AM radio.
In case you haven't noticed, sports cars have evolved along with the rest of the automotive industry.
It is all about performance. What does it matter if you can have that in air conditioned comfort?

Actually, if a term is used long enough to reference a certain kind of thing, it becomes a standard. For example, when you want to blow your nose, you reach for a Kleenex, but what you'd really want is a tissue. Or, many people I know ask for a Coke when they want a soda, any soda at all - they're all Cokes. It's quite an interesting phenomenon actually.

Anyhow, those are GT cars.
