Oh yes! I only ever had understeer on track when it was wet and on gaz during a turn exit. On brakes my car is twitchy. I have a stock AP2, on AD08R and UK alignement.

During high speed turn, you have to be on it, the rear wants to come to you, and tell you a story about regrets and f@#k-up, so be careful to try that in "safe" environment.

Only time I got rotation I didn't expect on my stock S was lift off over steer. I didn't truly lift though. I entered a turn on the track faster then I had perviously and failed to power through the corner. Instead I had just enough lack of throttle to shift the weigh. At 80-90 miles an hour I got the first and second attempt to spin out but the third was a complete spin.

I was also running a different tire compound which I had greased up at these speeds.

Powered PSI and stayed on throttle and no rotation.

On the street I found you had to be pretty stupid to get it to rotate. I drove summer tires in the winter too. Bunch of people complaining about rotation need some track time.

And Yes, you "trail brake" hard enough you'll get it. Trail braking is more advanced technique and shouldn't be used by novices. It becomes hard to correct quickly as you're on the wrong pedal when the rotation starts. When you're really good you can "dance" on the brake and then back on the throttle but unless you're racing these minor gains are pointless.

Not sure how far south you are in New Jersey, but SCDA is having a winter autocross at Lime Rock on Feb. 22 - both morning and afternoon sessions. I'm not sure if they are going to make snow, or drive the track dry - but you might contact them to inquire about the particulars. http://www.scda1.com/

Alternatively, in the spring they will definitely have some car control clinics where they will be using both the autocross track and the skid pad. There should be at least one where you can do the car control clinic in the morning and run the race track in the afternoon.

Lime Rock is about 2 hours north from the George Washington Bridge.

Ooh, sweet - thanks for the idea! I checked out the link, they say they will be making snow, with snow tires required.

Everyone must have some significantly modified suspensions. If the suspension balance is close to stock, you should not be able to get the car to understeer first unless you're doing some boneheaded driving.
Afaik, stock AP2s will understeer initially but that is easily modulated with the throttle. Drive into a corner too fast, turn the wheel, and the car will definitely scrub on the fronts initially.
That is what I am referring to when I say boneheaded driving. Going into turns too hot or other such understeer inducing behaviors. It also depends on what year AP2. The 04-05 definitely lean towards oversteer with the suspension balance.

40-70mph corners are not high speed corners.

Well, wait until April and go to that one. I'm sure they won't be making snow then.

Just for yuks, here's a downshift oversteer (following trailbraking). Turn 1 at Lime Rock. You can hear that I blipped a second or so before the shift. Too early! Or I suppose you could say that the shift was too slow.
