Sure, it stays on all the time and folds with the roof -- if it doesn't, I just wasted a lot of money. It is just a velour-type lining with some thin foam padding behind it. It is hard to describe how it attaches, but I will post some pictures next week.

What about the sound deadening? Is it a WOW thing, or just okay?

Incubus - don't know about sound yet, it isn't installed. I don't expect much here - I bought it as a second layer for winter - keep the cold out. I figured it would work like a storm window. If it doesn't do much there, it will at least hide the roof bracing.
