Default hardtop strikers install

I searched for 30 minutes and I can't believe no one has had a problem with this. I have an OEM hardtop for my MY02 s2k...that's been on the car since new. I just bought new hardtop strikers for the top, because it squeaks excessively and I'm sick of it. There is no DIY or FAQ on hardtopguy.com and I need help because I can't get the factory screws out of the factory strikers. They are in very, very tight and I don't know how I'm going to get them out. If anyone has some advice as to getting them out, or has dont this before...please let me know. Thanks.

put a screwdriver in them and hit it with a hammer and then try to unscrew it.....that will usually loosen up really tight screws.

be careful

use a socket wrench with a screw drive bit, it'll give you the torque you need... use alot of pressure so you don't strip those bad boys.
be carefull

I changed mine out last week. I had to borrow my neighbors drill to get them out w/o stripping them. Perfect sized bit and a good drill, and they came right out.

^^ exactly what I did. It was a PITA to do it by a regular screw driver. It was merely impossible because it was soo tight! I stripped all the screws before I even got it out so I went to Honda and re-ordered all the screws to replace them.

They make a tool that is a screwdriver that you hit with a hammer to loosen tight screws. Can't remember the name of it but it works very well. It was the only way I could ever get the screws out of my discs on my old Prelude's brakes.
