I still thought the price was to high so I used a custom vaccum hose about 2 inches that is attached to the front grill Its like AC coming thoughr when you blow and stick it out the window for tests, so at high speeds I'm sure lots of cold air is coming though!!

nice I also took that bonnet piece off since it owukd have intefeered with the hose coming in and fitting nicely without the hood smashing it. I didn't even do any cutting, it fitted smotholy and snaked through an opening on the side, I didnt want to cut anything up near the radiator.

Let me get this straight: you guys are wrapping the OEM rubber hose? Why? I think it is very well insulated for heat already. I'm sure engineers took heat into consideration already. I didn't see a need for heat-shield wrapping. I only did it to a CAI, which is made of aluminum, which is prone to heat.

Again, I don't see why heat wrapper is necessary for an OEM rubber pipe.

I didnt do it to the hose. I though that might be to much, I just did it to the air box and the front plate which gets superrrrr hot!!

My underhood temp experiments from a couple years ago showed that insulating everything EXCEPT the rubber intake tube gets you to within about 5 - 7 degrees of ambient. Insulating it gets you to within 2 degrees. 3 to 5 degrees really means nothing to most people but if you are fanatical, then this is what must be done.

I was checking out xviper's temp narrative when I considered heat wrapping my engine. The rubber intake tube was the easiest part to wrap and the closest to heat sources.

I'm looking for some flexible mesh to cover the shiny wrinkled heatwrap and make it more presentable.

I used pre set strips. They come unwrinkled have adesive on the bottom and look very straight. Jsut put it on step by step and looks smooth.

Boy, does Thetz99's cut up snorkle look like what Spoon did to their S2000 in 2004...where the snorkle does not appear to go to the intake, but rather to to the engine compartment just in front of the intake!

I bought a thermo-tec wrap for my intake... It looks like a little corset for your intake It seems pretty heat resistant and its really easy to install.

I got mine from here: http://store.yahoo.com/racingsuperstore/coairtush.html
