Check your MAP and reset your ECU.

I'm almost 100% sure it is the MAP sensor now, I talked to one of my friends who is a tech and he has replaced one before due to a hole in the mapping. Hope anyone else who has or will have this problem will keep this as a mental note.

Hi All,
My situation has become a total nightmare. The car is now at a second dealer, because the first was useless. Sierra Honda in Monrovia, CA has a technician, Dan Tate, who specializes in S2000's. They've been over it again and again, for 10 days now, with Honda's techline, and now have decided that it's sediment in the fuel tank from an accident 2 years ago, which isn't covered by the Hondacare. I spoke to my body guy, and they never dropped the tank during the repairs, so Honda's claim is total bulls**t. Iniitally, the dealer had decided it was the fuel pressure regulator.
So, where I'm at now, is it's going to cost me $217 to drop the tank, inspect it, and flush the fuel system. If it's still no good after that, I'm going to get a Lemon Law attorney.
Watch this space for further info.

I had this exact same problem and it turned out to be the fuel pump!

BD,

I've been right there with you buddy......and *still* am . I've had the coils, MAP, and complete throttle body replaced. No codes have presented all along although my local Honda tech has hooked up to The Bruised Banana's computer and we have reproduced the situation muuuuuuuultiple times. Latest in the saga [for me] is Honda suggesting to the tech that he replace my Fuel Pump. This should be occuring shortly (and hopefully at no charge to me). I am at 64K miles now, with an "aftermarket" extended warranty that I purchased through this same dealership. The extended warranty covered the throttle body...so hopefully this effort will be no different (although they miiiiiiight try to put two and two together to see that my dealership is basically trying to diagnose by replacement, and at the expense of the extended warranty company's wallet ).

We'll see...again...I'm about to do a Fuel Pump replacement [hopefully]. I'll be happy to keep you informed on any progress I make with what seems to evidently be the same problem.

Okay...thought I'd post here with an update.

[I reserve the right to change my tune down the road ]

Fuel pump has been installed for 1 week now. Winter (aka rain, wet roads) have not allowed for too many "romps" for testing. However, I *HAVE* had a few chances to test the livin' heck outta this fuel pump now. Two scenarios come to mind (and that I've therefore tested to):
  • Straightline @ 80mph in 6th, drop to 4th & run up to [near] redline on 5th and 6th at full throttle, and
  • U-turns in 1st at near-full-throttle-to-full-throttle (near-full throt during turn; once on a straight line full throt.).

The straightline 80mph test I've done ~ 4 times now. ...no hesitation / cut out.

The U-turns test I've done ~ 10 times in a row now. ...no hesitation / cut out.

[Hate to jinx myself here......] Looks like the replacement of my fuel pump has, indeed, corrected this particular S2000's hesitation issue. Feels good and strong .

Glad to hear you have no issues so far Dave..
