Help me understand.......
People buy classic Jags, MGs, Triumphs, Healeys, Porsches everyday and clean original ones are expensive. 20 years from now a clean original S2000 will be worth quite a bit also. Ones that are modified beyond being able to be restored easily to stock will be worth much less.
Keep modding people, the more molested S2000s there are the more the original ones will be worth.

A friend of mine has an original Boba Fett Star Wars figure in it's original packaging. It's worth about $400. I have one too, but mine has been played with and dirty and scratched. It's not worth anywhere near that. But I wouldn't swap the fun I had as a kid mucking around with Boba and his cohorts for $4000 let alone $400.
And then there's that friend with the C3PO. At first they were rare. Then Mattel released thousands of then. His pristine one is worth about $2.

So are you saying that those of us who have kept our cars stock don't have fun with them? I Auto X mine, I drive it fast, I have a blast with it. I also keep it very nice.
Since when has modding a car been the only way to have fun with it? I say drive it.
I don't need lower it, bolt wings and spoilers on it, or body kits to have fun.

Obviously some people here are not bored by it.
APOLOGY TO BIEG ET AL
Damn! I was way out of line in getting all worked up over the continuing discussion/argument on mod vs. non-mod and in jumping on Bieg. Mea culpa. I got in Bieg's face publicly so a public apology is in order.
Sorry - really.

I wouldn't do that. You'll lower it's resale value.
I think you are a little hung up on the whole 'do not mod' thing and often look for reasons to support your belief. One point you often talk about is resale value. Your point may be valid to you, but to some carries no weight and is hence totally irrelevant to them.
Perhaps you're not the tinkering kind. Fair enough, no ones saying that you have to. But it would be nice if you'd accept that some people are, and won't get as much enjoyment if don't get their hands dirty. I would have to say that I am one of those people.
And I don't care if people agree with me or not. My car is mine to do with as I please. Conversely, I don't care if people want to keep their car stock, or stick a triplane GT wing on the back. It's theirs and they can (and should) do with it as they please.
Over and out.

It really is very interesting how many people feel threatened enough to post nasty replies to totaly valid arguments (even if you don't agree).
As far as moding things, been there, done that, know better now. Many years of playing with hot cars, bikes and boats and throwing lots of money away has taught me a factory waranty is a good thing.
