HELP! My car got keyed.
Legally speaking, they cannot disclose anything until it becomes matter of public record. The reason for this, as I understand it, is to protect the integrity of the case. They need everything to remain basically "sterile" while they investigate and gather facts. Sounds like a slam-dunk case to me. You should win no problem.
In FL, any damage over $500 is a felony (Class D.....I think). Might be worse where you are. I would just let it ride. Get a REALLY expensive attorney, beat the hell out of them in court, and then stick them with the attorney's fee as well......that will teach them!
Upon discovery, they were most likely issued a "written arrest." (I was given one of these a few years ago for possession under age). They basically have been "arrested," but serve no time in jail, as they were probably not deemed a flight risk. They were probably given the written arrest, along with a summons for their arraignment (SP?) hearing. This is when formal charges should be brought on them, and it will become "public record." You can probably gain all information you want after that (depends on state laws, as this is (most likely) not going to be a Federal Case).

I dont think they have been arrested yet but hopefully they will be soon.
