I bought a VAFC from this person via PayPal. He was a long time board member and had sold other things. The goods were claimed to be sent but via ocean although I had paid a premium for air freight. Kept asking for a tracking number from USPS to no avail - strung me out for 30 days and then stopped replying. PayPal will not investigate after 30 days - he knew his stuff!

There's the story and I'm $xxx worse off for it!

Just looking to get something back now - but highly unlikely!
Its made me very cautious of buying on the board - I'd like to see a vendor rating system started to stop this sort of thing (like refernces you take up in business). Would you buy a $2500 second hand supercharger off a new member - I know I wouldn't but someone may - they may be OK, they may not!
This needs regulation for new and old board members alike

Hope this answers the story

It makes me sick to now that people here would take advantage of others.

I hope you do find a resolution soon

It's quite sad that this kind of thing happens. Although people should always be careful when buying stuff from a member with "0" days and posts items for sale, this guy with his head up his butt was certainly no newcomer at the time of this deal. I don't know how this could have been prevented short of simply not buying the item in the first place.
For those of us who care, we should "bookmark" this thread and paste it in all future posts from members selling stuff here, especially those who just joined for the sole purpose of offering items for sale. (As a caution to all, but in particular, newcomers or infrequent users.)

Be careful guys. The same thing happened to me on eBay with some jerk from California. I bought an Alpine CVA-1000 nav screen, sent a money order (mistake 1) for $920 and never got anything. I won't give up tracking him down. I'll get him eventually.

Someone should post his name and address to warn potential buyers, in case he registers under a new username.
