Take what you can get. Life is much to short to do otherwise.
be
my parents have money. i have an A4. i am not snobby. insurance for it (clean record, under my dads name too) is over 1000/6 months. thats not cheap, and i pay it, as well as premium gas because it keeps my mpg well above 20.
if you can afford all the service on it, if you are going to find it a learning experience, if you will begin to take over payments/buy your next car, then i think its fine. Theres nothing wrong with parents starting off their kids with their first car. If he wants to race it, then shame on him. But shame on all of you complaining about teens speeding and racing, look at the street encounters page. Everyone on the board reads of how "so and so" raced a 350z or a
ing neon (why would you race a neon, its a
ing NEON, just show him your interior versus his and he will walk away crying), and "such and such" was on the highway so they did a race "4 times from a stand to 120, and a roll from 30 to 120". 120 miles per hour. I dont care if youre 20 30 40 or 50, thats fast and a danger to yourself and others. So 18 year olds are no worse than 25 year olds or 30 and 40 year olds. Quit complaining about insurance. You all mod your cars and turbo them and all this shit, and then you complain about teens? Whats the turbo for, the sound? You supercharge it to take up space in your engine bay? Look what geico is doin now to people who mod their cars.

kid, its ok if you get the car. but make the promise to yourself to keep your ass safe. youd get much more "attention" pulling into an applebees parking lot in your car than speeding by doing 100 on the highway. be smart, and just learn. id say the only reason why you WOULDNT want the s2000, is taht theres no space and moving into a college dorm isnt just bringing your laptop. plus i dont know if you can park on campus, or how far away you live. i recommend you NOT leave campus and work on your first year, since like 50% of all entering freshman drop out at the end of their first year. its scary, but i just finished my first year with all A's and 1 B (anthropology...ew). Trust me, the year will go by SO fast with winter break and spring break. This summer, forget about the car. Get a job. Work full time or part time. Save up a lot of cash (youre going to need it, DESPERATELY), get to school, attend every class, do your hw, work out, sleep regularly, get a part time job on campus (dining hall, library, computer classrooms, etc.) and by the time you finish your first year, youll have the grades, youll have all the support in the world, and that s2k will be sweeter than ever. Cause you dont wanna get the car this summer, enjoy it for 2 months, then go to college and do horribly. THen youre parents will take the car away from you, and youll be stuck in a ditch. Right now your GPA is more important than getting your RPM's up.

well? what's the story? Did we help or what?
Buy the way, just because you got a full scholarship, doesn't mean you should expect the college fund you think your parents were saving to be spent on you in another way. Quit being selfish and let them pay off their mortgage or something with the money, or let them buy themselves an S2000

Listen to this guy. . . wise beyond his years. This summer, get a job. Work hard. Get ready for college. Tell your parents your goals, grades and courses. Tell them what to expect from you. Show them youre ready and willing for a change in lifestyle. Then, GO THROUGH WITH IT. Get the grades, stay out of trouble (drinking, parties, etc. You wont believe how many kids i know have been written up and fined for underage drinking and stuff). Come springtime next year, around May (usually the time college gets out, i'm done by this Friday), start looking for that s2000. By then, theyll be cheaper. And dont get caught in the rut saying to yourself "oh but i want this one its so good its so cheap blah blah blah!!!! I cant let it gooooo!!" There will ALWAYS be S2k's for sale. Trust me. Show your parents you can stay level-minded. Show them you are responsible, that you have made it into a new lifestyle. College is no joke, its either win or lose, and if you lose, you lose dearly. If all turns out well, youll have a brand spankin new ride by June, before all the little high school girlies get out (if thats where you aim, i know a lot of my friends still do
) and youll have made a ton of friends in your first year at college that you can hang out with, etc. etc. etc. life is good! You gotta have some sympathy for your parents. My parents have 4 kids, my brother is about to get his first car this summer. Be considerate, and show them that theyre spending their money on something that is giving back to them (my parents value good grades and education above all in this world, yours may too). the combination of:
Good grades
Satisfaction from your parents
New friends from school
Your adjustment to college life
Trust in yourself/from your parents
Great responsibility
Handing that money to the dealership, the money YOU saved up
is going to make life great!
p.s. - Dont get lazy sophomore year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
