Help with purchasing my first S2K
I have seen AP1's with under 20k go for like 16k or 17k. If the NADA value is showing that it is a good deal, you have to take into account the fact that it might need a new engine. Then you gotta hope whoever puts it in does a good job, or you will start seeing little annoying things that need to be replaced. Not worth the headache if you ask me.
Take a look on autotrader and on here in the classifieds for a used AP1. I'm sure you can find an awesome deal on one with half or less miles than that AP2 and with no problems. Could find a nice certified '03 or something with much less miles.
Don't get too biased just because it's newer and the price is cheap. If it is "too" cheap thats probably because they actually do know the problem but don't want to just say it needs a new engine. Be careful. and good luck.
Oh btw AP1FTW

It's 9k or 8.9k rpms' not 8500. If the AP2 was over revved and screwed the head up at the least, the car was probably beat on pretty hard. You just gotta decide if you want to take a gamble and get it even though you rather an AP1

If you are really serious about the car, take it to a honda dealer for an extensive evaluation. Find out what the misfire issue is (and $$$ to fix) and what other problems it might also have. I'd look close under the hood to see if there is any evidence of previous tinkering or after market gizmos. Somebody may have seriously abused it and finally dumped it on the unsuspecting chick when serious issues started appearing.

My main concern wouldn't be the miles, but the cold start misfire issue.
My thoughts exactly.
High mileage doesn't bother me for that price. It's that cold start issue that I'm worried about.
