HELP! SRS light stays ON after steering wheel install
OK just thought I would post a note about how this episode ended:
While doing the install and pulling the wheel, I guess I de-threaded the bolt holes in the new wheel and I smoothed out the bit area in the airbag bolts - so the dealer had to rethread these and pull the wheel, reinstall it and do a wheel alignment - total cost $370.00
I did not have the time or energy to argue with him as to why he needed to charge for 4 hours of labor and why a wheel alignment was necessary. I was just happy to have my car back in original condition.
Moral of the story - if you get a new steering wheel - make damn sure you know what you are doing if you are installing yourself - any doubts - get your dealer to do the install.
