HIDs are the cause of wars
The thing that pisses me off: When a S2000 is headed towards another car it's obvious that it's not using regular lights. The obvious blue look tells it all. I have seen BMW's and Audies with HID flash me and it's pretty obvious that they are not hitting their high beams. People are idiotic. I get flashed in my area every time I drive at night. It's never done by regular cars, I think these people are used to getting flashed by any type of beam. I get flashed by all of the jacked up yee-haa monster trucks we have in my neck of the woods. Being a person who has driven a low car my whole life, I find poetic justice in beaming them back. Most of these guys purposely raise their beams either to 4X4 better OR to purposely nail the small car in front of them with their beams at a red light (very common here, and they get as close to your trunk as they can).
My other car is a 4x4 and I get "brighted" frequently when my stock halogen lo-beams are on. The height of the truck causes the beams to be more or less in your face so they tend to annoy everyone. I'm usually very careful to turn my headlights off when in drive thru lanes since they are in close proximity to the car in front of me.
In Texas we have lots of pickup trucks with very shiny chrome bumpers (not mine) pull up behind one of these with your HID lights on, OUCH!

I think it's kind of fun coming up on cars at night. The nice ones think you are flashing and get out of the way.
That thing about the flashing lights and shooting is an urban legend. There was a big news story out here about it. Cops interviewed and everything. They would just steal the car first.
