No, but I know somebody who does!
I believe we are thinking of the same guy.

So folks, you "could" tow a boat with this car.

are u really worried because u own a mercedes? If so, i know the feeling.
I have '00 E430, it had been in dealer many times for un-scheduled repairs the first 3.5 years: Allignment, Oxygen sensors, visor cover (more than two times), power-up windows, so many to list all. It had been fairly reliable the last 2 years or so. It also requires very high maintenances: front brake pads last only 10k-12k miles, rear pads last about 35k miles, new 4 tires (235/45-17) every 16k-18k miles.

In constrast, my '04 S2000 did not have any problem so far, after 20 months and 11k miles.

I own a 99 C280 and have had many sensor problems. The latest one left me without any power at 50mph. The car stalled without any symptoms. It was the crankshaft position sensor. Luckily my wife wasn't driving at the time.
The Merc drives like new at 90K miles, but the cost of ownership doesn't justify owning one.

01 TSB 54 (2 times, way to go Honda)
01 TSB 52
01 Unscheduled trip to the dealer, failed computer.

00 TSB 54 (and making the same noise again 6k miles later)
00 Various other recalls -- err TSB's safety belts etc
00 Rattles (way more than the 01 .. why?)
00 Top worn through

My '01 S2000 was my 5th new Honda (has 58,000+ miles).

My '05 S2000 was my 6th new Honda (has 16,000+ miles).

My '98 Odyssey van was my 4th new Honda (has 117,000+ miles).

Yes, I find the S2000 to be reliable like all of my six Hondas, in fact, I would never have bought the '01 S2000 if it wasn't a Honda.

I have an 04 with 8K. Just had 2nd gear popping out problem - TSB 050009. Have to wait for parts - dealer cannot give me arrival time of parts - could be weeks. They had my car for 2 days and did nothing. I took it back and I'm waiting. I'm not sure if I would be treated the same if I had bought a vette or a boxster!

Lessee, window regulator TSB.
Differential
Inner CV cup replacement.
Oh yah, and of course the short life-spans of the Tires and battery.

All in all, I've had a few problems, more than most it seems, but I'm far from calling it unreliable. It has only once left me calling a tow truck, and that's after the diff popped.

56k and counting on my DD.

Have an '02 w/26,800 miles.
My throw-out bearing failed at 13,850 miles. Entire clutch replaced under warranty.
Driver's side window regulator failed twice.
Other than that, no problems.
