I usually shift around 5k or so. I have gears so a little higher than normal.
I vtec it many times a day as well.
I don't worry about gas mileage at all though. The worse I get the more fun I probably had lol.

I drive it pretty hard almost all the time. Exceptions of course are when stuck in traffic, in the rain, when it's freezing out or when I'm tired.

Damn, I can't believe some of you guys shift at 3-3500rpm. If I shift that low I hardly get any pick up at all. In day to day driving I shift around 5 most of the time and probably hit VTEC 5-15 times a day. Commuting to work I usually get around 22-23mpg. Best I've gotten on the highway is 32mpg (while going 85-95mph, can't figure that one out ) but usually 28-29mpg is best I can get on the highway.

If you're concerned with getting good gas mileage this isn't the car for you, but if you want to eek out a little extra do the following: whenever accelerating up to speed use close to full throttle and shift around 5-6,000. You get to your cruising speed faster (less time accelerating)and take advantage of your engine's increase intake efficiency near WOT. When slowing down leave your car in gear. When coasting to a stop in gear your injectors shut off and don't deliver fuel to the engine. It's better than coasting to a stop in neutral.

usual shifts are in the 4-5K range, getting on the highway or an expressway with room in front of me, i run it to redline through 3rd.

i don't drive it for gas mileage...but it barely gets any VTEC..especially because now i barely drive it...so when i do its mainly to get it running and get the cobwebs out...you don't want to rip a car that hasn't been driven in 2 weeks ...so its getting some real easy driving now...

i usually drive it like buzz944 on other occasions. It doesn't get run hard..

I try to avoid drifting on the street. Usually shift between 4K & 6K unless........

Love that third gear VTEC on the I-75 entrance ramps.

I wonder if this car is meant for me cause i drive mine like a grand mother and i seldomly vtec. I just feel bad thinking about driving it hard even though it's meant to be driven hard. I just havent come to terms with vtec'ing and redlining the car after almost a year of ownership.
