Those of you that shift at 5 around town must not have a loud car, lol. Either that or you like getting tickets.

my best mpg in 6th gear is around 55-65 mph.

but the way i drive.. i lowered my vtec so i basically vtec every where i go. but conservative driving and shifting when i want to get the best mpg, i shift around 3200-3500 rpm.

Drive it like I stole it...modifry's shift beeper saves me over-revs, but I wait for those three beeps to shift almost every time. Plus hitting 140mph / cruising 120mph on the autobahn on my way to-from work ensures the WORST gas mileage, but biggest grin on my face! I am lucky to get 200miles on a tank...Still, I LOVE being in Germany with a car made for the roads here.

i could care less about miles per gallon, so i just drive it however i feel like driving it usually. the one thing that kind of holds me back from driving more aggressively most of the time is the fact that the car is loud lol

I wonder if this car is meant for me cause i drive mine like a grand mother and i seldomly vtec. I just feel bad thinking about driving it hard even though it's meant to be driven hard. I just havent come to terms with vtec'ing and redlining the car after almost a year of ownership.
i was like you for months, but i finally started VTEC'ing on a regular basis and i haven't looked back. at least once a day, usually 4 or 5 though.

Most of the time I drive like a sane human being. However, sometimes, when the conditions are ripe for the taking, I become possessed. Possessed by the animalistic urge to make the engine sing to me while the tires beg me to stop and drive it like the little Japanese men who designed it had in mind. Single exhaust ftw!

It's your car. Do what you want with it.

That said, I don't get feeling bad for driving the car the way it was meant to be driven. I feel bad for you and your car. Maybe try autocrossing or taking it to the track.

If that doesn't do it for you, don't worry about it. It's perfectly suited just for cruising.
