Like others stated, I wouldn't care (on a Honda anyway) about the mileage as much as I would the owners. I would rather buy a 145K mile car that was babied and maintained than a 13K car that was driven by a pimplepopping teen.

I hope that your steering pump and rack are in good shape. In this case, switching to a high mileage formula Power Steering Fluid is probably going to help the problem. I found that the Honda Steering system takes Lucas fluid quite well.

I probably wouldn't buy an S over 120k unless it was going to be a beater or a project car.

hmm...i know there are many stories of owners raking up miles....i was super cautious when i bought my MY00 3 months ago....it had 79k, now im at 85k...i replaced all of the basic fluids when i got it to start on a "clean slate"....but i personally would not look into a car with that many miles that you did not see...idc who drives it...no one, and i mean no one...can resist VTEC...and even if only sprinkled in, 150k is a lot for any motor/car....the price is fairly cheap, if i were in a position to buy it, i would make damn sure the handling components are good and save up for a short block as an "o-shit" factor. cuz if you drop 3k for the short block, but the tranny, shocks/suspension, rear end, axles, and eveything else is fine, you gotcher self an almost new (in a sense) car for 10k....still, if i were in your shoes, i would not go for it. but how long are you planning on owning it? will it be your DD? all very important factors...because if you might end up selling it again in 5-6 months, you can bet the next guy in line will be asking the same thing you are, only he will have more mileage to look at, and another owner...so if you buy to keep, as a secondary vehicle, it would be sweet to do a rebuild...
