Greetings you all:

I am totally new to this board and I'm planing to get my '02 S2K asap. I was just wondering what price range should I expect (I live in LA)? Is there still a mark up? Can anyone recommend any dealer down here in So.Cal? I went to Nelson Honda (El Monte, CA), all they had was a blue one. Nothing is available until next Feb. according to that dealer....

I want a '02 black/black so bad...........

Thanks in advance.

You should be able to find one at or under MSRP. I suggest not paying anything over MSRP. I got my from Ohio (I'm in San Diego) and had it shipped here. I noticed that most places around here were adding additional fees. So I had to go out of state.

Jaykkub,

Do you have a picture of your car since installing the carbon fiber dash kit...I'd love to see it!

Try Penske Honda in Ontario...I know they have a new 2001 black/black and they unload them for MSRP (without any options). They also have 1 or 2 2002's but don't know the colors.

Much thanks, guys.

I can't wait to join this forum 'officially'. I guess I'll do more research calling around more dealers then. At the mean time I need to turn my '00 A6 2.7T into some cash so I can get my S2K....

I got mine in El Centro through Priceline.com. Only costs you 50 bucks if they find you a car at the price you say. Nothing iS they don't. saves a lot of calls/dealer bulls**t/hassles.

Now, are you still covered by the warranty? By that I mean if the car has any prob., can you just go into a random dealer?

Thanks,

No matter where you buy your car, any Honda dealer should honor the factory warranty.

As to the suggestion about buying a "left over" 2001 model at MSRP, I sure wouldn't do that. The 2002 has several worthwhile improvements over the previous model. Besides, people are getting the 2002 model at MSRP. Heck, if you want to go to MA, there's a dealer there selling the '02 at 1000 *below* MSRP ('course he's looking out his showroom window at white stuff . . and convertible sales might be a little slow this time of year).

Since the 2002 has a beefier clutch, smoother shifting transmission, better more powerful stereo, glass rear window, easier fitting boot, and a number of additional refinements . . . how much is this all worth? I would not consider an earlier model to be a great deal for anything more than $500 over actual dealer cost.

My dealer called me this morning to give me my VIN number . . it's a start - yeeeehaaaa! He was saying it might be as little as a couple of weeks for delivery, but I don't want to get my hopes up so I'm thinking mid-Jan. Anyone have experience with the time delay between when the dealer gets the assigned VIN and delivery?

Penske and Norm Reeves in Cerritos are pretty good about MSRP. You just have to be careful for the overpriced forced options that they might give you.
