ok, I change my engine, tranny and diff oil every 3000-3500miles.

While the S is on jackstands, the extra $ and effort is negligible.
Now wonder the resale price of S2Ks is so high. By the time you have 60K on the car you'll have spent ~1500 dollars on fluids. I figure a guy that takes it to the dealer every 3K should be out 2-3 thousand. We at Mega Oil Corp thank you for your compulsiveness.

Thank you for continuing to point out the mass ignorance in here propnuts...sincerely. It always astounds me how so many people claiming to be auto "enthusiasts" can be so damn ignorant when it comes to knowledge about basic maintenance and the environment it has an impact on.

IMO there should be a sticky at the top of EVERY auto forum on the net linking people to the bobistheoilguy.com forum where people can go and research how downright stupid they are for perpetuating the "every 3,000 miles" bull$hit. People are sheeple. They are lazy, apathetic and superficial. They convince themselves that their time at Starbucks and/or watching "Big Brother" is more important that educating themselves on a subject that they assume they are already educated about because they saw it on tv. They see the ads sponsored by Mega Oil Corp and say "wow, I better keep up that 3,000 mile routine or else". Then you get the class A morons that change it every 1,000 because they feel they are "protecting their engine more".

Oil technology has come so far in the last twenty years that the old 3,000 mile myth is long gone...at least to those that choose to inform themselves and keep up with current information. You know...those people that actually like to evolve instead of remaining stagnant in their old, tired, ANAL ways. Dino/Conventional, take your pic, can EASILY go 5,000 miles at the minimum between changes and a Synthetic I wouldn't even begin to think about changing for at least 8-10k.

Why is blatant ignorance so rampant when the education to cure it is so readily available?

IF you are using synthetic, and the car is street driven (not tracked) you are pissing money away changing the oil sooner than 7500 miles, or even more.
