I would start here....

http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc2000se...page&item=30009

You can get a slightly used Honda S2000 motor complete with ECU and transmission for $4000. Now all you need is a reputable mechanic to put it in for you. You might be able to strike a deal with Honda dealership to put it in. Who knows.

Use your existing transmission, ECU, etc... Sell the rest to get some money back or keep them for spare parts. This would be a whole lot better than buying a new block/head etc from Honda.

Good luck!

Given that one of the unofficial mottos of S2000 ownership is "drive it like you stole it" and the number of people on this board making apparently uninformed modding decisions, the odds of a used S2000 being abused are rather higher than those of, say, a Honda Odyssey.

moved from UTH. This is no longer a technical discussion but rather an ethical one.

My opinion, and my opinion only, if you want to screw with your engine, you should know ahead of time the consequences. If mine dies tomorrow, I am not going to ask Honda to take the hit. If the car has to sit for 3 months before I can raise the cash to fix it so be it. My fault, my responsiblities.

If it's Honda's fault (ie: buzzing clutch, etc) then they should pay. But, nitrous damage is not Honda's fault.

inflammatory comments like that don't belong here.

Funny thing is...people who steal cars for profit drive pretty carefully. In the case of towing the car as a method of stealing it, they don't even drive it at all! .

Cheers

FWIW, I think I agree with Bieg's point although I don't necessarily agree with his approach.

We should all be disgusted by the notion of committing fraud to avoid taking ownership for our own errors. Whether this motor overheated because of a CAI, because of new hoses, or because the owner didn't watch his temp. gauge is almost irrelevant. In each scenario, the responsibility lies with the owner and not Honda. Scamming Honda for a few thousand dollars to cover your own ass is not only unethical but frankly, its pitiful.

Be an adult. Take ownership of both your triumphs and our mistakes.
