I will try the latch noise fix and tranny noise woes with your suggestions. I think the mileage deal has more to do with where I drive than with how I drive. Only 12 miles round trip to work and back but ALL stop and go. I don't take it into vtec very often, hell I would rear-end someone if I did. I will say, there are days when everything just seems perfect and I can't imagine driving anything else but those days are becoming less frequent.

I bought my S (sadly only 16 months ago) and was in love with it from day one. But recently, all I can focus on is the negative aspects of the car...the uncooperative 2nd and 3rd gear engagement, the on/off clutch, the rattling latches, the stiff ride, 210 miles to a tank and the ungodly road/tire noise on course road surfaces. I realize these are all trademarks of a small, great handling, fast..ok, quick roadster but I'm wondering to myself if it was the wrong choice for me. My last car was a G55 sedan. It was fast and comfy but too big, soft and unrefined. Maybe it's the typical Oregon weather that has me down but how have people managed to keep their cars for 8 years and still love them. I hope this feeling wears off.
Come on some of our drives next summer and you might start to love it again.

mysilvers2k was about to sell her car until she joined up for a drive. That was over 2 years ago. In the meantime there are always the dinner&drink meets.

Mine is an 02 and has latch rattles (one of the plastic frames for the latch is cracked), the top creaks (havent put any lithium grease on it in a while), the tranny is a little notchy when cold, but better than it was (changed the tranny fluid to the new Honda MTF), I have less road noise than WIND noise (yay top-down).

I agree with LittleBluePill and boofer though. Take it to the dealer for the tranny problem.

In an 06 you should definitely see about 23-25mpg in the city. I'm AP1 and only get about 20. Most AP2s I talk to get close to 30 on the highway while I get 26-28.
I'm also a lead-foot. :revs:

I have a 2007 wih 11K and have the rattles and road noise but no trany issues. Bring it to the dealer.
Same here. I usually drive top down, anyway. I am sure you're just depressed due to the Oregon weather.. I don't think I'll ever grow tired of my S.
Just take it for a canyon run and tell us whether you're still contemplating trading it.

it sounds like you are comparing this with your "luxury" car, the g35. this is not a luxury car, but a full on sports car. it also has a convertible top. once you stop comparing apples and oranges, and realize this is a sports car, i think your view may change. get another daily since it sounds like this is your daily. also, go to a reputable dealer/service place to check out the issues you listed.

dump the stock trans oil (it's break in oil change time anyhow, just did my '06 with 5k on the clock) and run Amsoil gear lube or Redline shockproof

3. 210 miles on a tank - Solved mine by.............ok wtf!!! Ever wonder why you're getting less than 20mpg per tank when most average at least 25mpg? Get your foot off the pedal. Its not what you drive its how you drive it. THIS IS ALL YOU! I drive my car hard now and then but still manage to get 22-25mpg so I think you must be hauling ass.

i average 260-280 miles per tank.
I can break 300 if i take a long trip thats mostly highway.

I think for a sports car this car gets amazing mileage.

I wa going to write the same thing. You will love the car more once you have joined us for our drives. I got my car 11 months ago, I began to join the monthly drives in May, This group is so awesome that you will ignore some of the small things about the car (rattles etc).

The road noise is due to our reallu shitty unmaintained roads in oregon. I noiced how bad it was when I first moved here.

that's about what I get, with several trips to VTEC during each tank, but the OP should keep in mind that break in (and peak mileage) can take as long as 10-15k miles on these engines, because they are so well made
