I bought my S (sadly only 16 months ago) and was in love with it from day one. But recently, all I can focus on is the negative aspects of the car...the uncooperative 2nd and 3rd gear engagement, the on/off clutch, the rattling latches, the stiff ride, 210 miles to a tank and the ungodly road/tire noise on course road surfaces. I realize these are all trademarks of a small, great handling, fast..ok, quick roadster but I'm wondering to myself if it was the wrong choice for me. My last car was a G55 sedan. It was fast and comfy but too big, soft and unrefined. Maybe it's the typical Oregon weather that has me down but how have people managed to keep their cars for 8 years and still love them. I hope this feeling wears off.
Hahaha! Where's your purse... oh wait, my wife enjoys our car with a stiffer clutch, stiffer springs, and louder exhaust.

Trade it in for a Lexus now.

And a "G55" is a Mercedes truck.

I'm in with you a tad bit OP, though I still absolutely love my car. I've only gotten 280-310 miles to a tank which includes driving in traffic every day, some highway driving, some local driving, and the occasional vtec pushing. The gas mileage really keeps me happy knowing I drive a car that can outperform most cars on the road yet still get as good mpg!

Back to the point, I think you're suffering from "the grass is always greener on the other side" syndrome. I sold my E46 M3 because I didn't think the fun/cool factor was worth the price. I was super happy to sell it and hopped into an S2k asap after driving my friend's several times. Now I miss my M3 quite a bit and am thinking if I should move onto a coupe so there isn't any more annoying road noise or a 4 door coupe so I can fit more stuff. All in all I figure the car looks great, performs great, gets great mpg, and I am young with no family as of yet so heck this will be the best time to enjoy it. Just look at the pros and cons in your situation and go with your heart. You have one life to live, why not live it happy! I know for a fact that if I do sell it for say a 350z (which is currently next on my list) I will regret it bad.

Good luck to whatever you do!

your commute is horribly wrong for the s2k. get a auto dd. the S has its purpose like a fine liquor. use it properly.

that being said, my 2004 has none of the problems that you stated. have it looked it by someone. (btw, i don't get why people buy this car and try to drive with the top up ever unless it's raining/snowing).

Being an 07' you shouldn't have rattling problems
Eh, I'm not too sure about that. My '08 with a little over 2000 miles has a rattle when going over bumps somewhere in the back behind the driver's seat (top area?) when the top's up. I've read others with the same or similar rattle before.

[QUOTE=plutonium239,Nov 2 2008, 09:52 AM] I will try the latch noise fix and tranny noise woes with your suggestions.

Change the gearbox oil with the green top honda MTF, flush the clutch fluid with some good DOT4 brake fluid, do some adjustments on your latches, get an alignment and some fresh tires and I bet 90% of your issues go away.

Come on some of our drives next summer and you might start to love it again.

mysilvers2k was about to sell her car until she joined up for a drive. That was over 2 years ago. In the meantime there are always the dinner&drink meets.

Mine is an 02 and has latch rattles (one of the plastic frames for the latch is cracked), the top creaks (havent put any lithium grease on it in a while), the tranny is a little notchy when cold, but better than it was (changed the tranny fluid to the new Honda MTF), I have less road noise than WIND noise (yay top-down).

I agree with LittleBluePill and boofer though. Take it to the dealer for the tranny problem.

In an 06 you should definitely see about 23-25mpg in the city. I'm AP1 and only get about 20. Most AP2s I talk to get close to 30 on the highway while I get 26-28.
I'm also a lead-foot. :revs:
I also was going to recommend this! I live in BC and tagged along on part of the Stonehenge and Historic highway drive. I had a blast! The Oregon crew is great. Aso Sabre and VintageMac have this group drive thing nailed down. Unfortunately for me, the drives are now limited to Oregon owners. You, on the other hand, can join in!

BTW, my '07 is also a little notchy between 2nd and 3rd. Doesn't really bother me though and I don't notice it during spirited driving. I also live close to work and have to deal w/ stop and go traffic. My gas mileage is much better though. Not sure why though. Is the air filter dirty?
