I may not be worthy
I get 250 miles per tank and I drive fairly hard. I've gotten as high as 296 miles on a tank when i was babying it more (winter).
The clutch...I would never consider the S2000's clutch on/off. I find it to be very mellow for a sports cars clutch. The only thing is (at least for the AP2's i've driven) the difference between an engaged clutch and a disengaged one is all of two inches of movement on the clutch pedal. If your G35 had really long clutch pedal travel that may be what is contributing to this feeling for you.
The tranny issues you should get looked at.
The rattles and such...Well it is a sportscar, and a roadster at that. Noise will always be an issue. Personally it does not bother me, but if it bothers you then perhaps you are in the wrong kind of car. There isn't really a way to make the S2000 a quiet car.
Go take a nice, twisty, backroad drive in it. See how you feel after that, and if the magic isn't renewed, then maybe it's time to think about getting into something that is "more you".

I wa going to write the same thing. You will love the car more once you have joined us for our drives. I got my car 11 months ago, I began to join the monthly drives in May, This group is so awesome that you will ignore some of the small things about the car (rattles etc).
The road noise is due to our reallu shitty unmaintained roads in oregon. I noiced how bad it was when I first moved here.

But recently, all I can focus on is the negative aspects of the car...the uncooperative 2nd and 3rd gear engagement, the on/off clutch, the rattling latches,

the stiff ride, 210 miles to a tank and the ungodly road/tire noise on course road surfaces.
I should have pointed out that my mentioning of my last car, the G35, was to illustrate that it also became unsatisfying to me, but for other reasons. As if to say; nothing seems to hold my interest.
If the road noise is an issue, I'd bet you can use dynomat or spray a little bit of cheap foam insulation or something in a thin coat onto the inside of the tire wells to act as noise deadener.
Maybe you should lease instead of buy
Then when you get sick of it, you hold out a year, then turn it in and lease another.

I just type "bought" out of habit. I have a teribble habit of getting tired of cars ever 2 years or so. I met my wife in 1997. She has had the same car ever since. I have owned a Tacoma 4x4/Probe gt/Supra/Explorer 4x4/Yota solid axle 4x4/Ninja 900/Yzf750r/Integra GSR/G35/Jeep XJ/S2000 in the same period of time. Wait, I think I see a pattern.

If you are ever near 185th/Sunset Hwy area, (literally 200 feet from where revs9k lives!), stop by. You can drive my car. I'd like to get a second opinion on the tranny issue.
Maybe this week, or next weekend we can get together and you can show me what your talking about.
