Default I need help!!!

AHHHHHH!! I took my car into Norm Reeves Cerritos today to get a simple oil change and to have them check on my Reverse gear problem. First thing happens is they want to take apart the transmission to check to see if the clutch is done with. Well American Honda won't pay for them to do that so it would cost $1400!! My car only has 28000 miles on it and the clutch is gone already?? I've never really done any drag racing with it but have raced it at high speeds. The replacement of a new clutch, I was told, was around $2000!!!! ARRRGHHH.

Next thing is that I find there are paint chips in my rear bumper which were not there previously!!! The original paper that they marked had damages marked in that area. But, I believe that the service guy marked them as he went to go get that paperwork. I have the copy that they gave me and there are no marks on that copy. Their service manager says that there is no way that they could have done that kind of damage. So they are NOT paying for it.

Is there any ideas on what I can do for both of these problems??
I'm thinking of calling my insurance company and have a professional look at the damages to see what could have caused that problem. As for the clutch problem, should I contact American Honda myself and bitch? Thanks for any and all help.

I thought Norm Reeves was highly rated by several of our members - at least in the area of car sales. It's hard to believe that a good sales department can often be countered by a poor service department.

You haven't explained why you can get the reverse gear problem fixed under warranty. Why won't Honda pay for it?

As for the paint chip problem, your copy of the work order with no reported damage in that area is as good as a legal document; it should be your ticket to a free paint and repair job. Get a copy of their work order and discuss it with the general manager. Not only will the idiot who marked their copy probably get fired, but you might just get that clutch/trannie work done at a very favorable rate.

If all else fails, maybe you should call Judge Judy.

Turn your stereo off, put the top up, and drive your car around a little bit. Listen to see if you have the deceleration buzz at 4k rpm. I have it, but I only notice it under the above conditions. I believe the TSB says the fix for it is to replace the clutch. I'm waiting until my warranty is close to expiring, then I will have them replace my clutch for free .

As for the paint chips, the discrepancy between your copy and their copy will evidence enough to indicate they made the chips. Even if they didn't make the chips, the tampering of the service contract makes them look very guilty.

Good Luck!

Oh yeah, I think the TSB for the 1-2 grind can get you a free clutch, too!

Remember 2 things..."the squeaky wheel gets the oil." and "presentaion is everything."

Don't rant and rave, be calm and firm. Logically explain your thoughts in an organized manner. Use praise, everyone has an ego. ie, "I have friends who have recommended you..." and "I have always heard GREAT things about this dealership from poeople on the online message boards..." This will let them know that you can post negative information about them.

Gice them the reasonable answer you expect. Tell them what it is you want them to do and why, them work towards compromise. If you do not get the answer you like let them know that you have no problem letting your attorney handle the issue since the cost to repeair is so great. Last I will suggest that you go up the latter until your at the top. The lower end people/mgrs are there to make the company money not cost them money.

Don't ever make the argument personal-keep it business like. If you make it personal no one will change their mind.

Damn, dude, it sounds like you're getting screwed by Norm Reeves. I'd definitely talk to the service manager, and if he doesn't help, take it up higher.

I thought vtecvoodoo had some connections at Norm Reeves. You might want to talk to him about it.

I bought my Prelude from Norm Reeves and was not that impressed with their finance department. They were kind of slimy. I have never used their service department, but I didn't want to take the car back there since I had such a bad experience with their finance department.

Good luck.
