I really hate how everyone sterotypes young teens

That's quite a few spelling errors for a student with a 3.9 GPA.
Schools have changed.

No offense (and maybe I'm just nit picking or it was a series of coincidental typos), but you sure do seem to make a lot of grammatical errors for someone of your stated caliber.

And for the record, threads like these come off as a very desperate "look at me and what I did" cry for attention. It's best to let your actions speak louder than your words. You should have nothing to prove, and no one on these forums has to know your age unless you choose to show or tell them.

For all the people saying "I did it all by myself," I think you need to wake up and smell the roses. Statements like that just show your age and selfish demeanor.

I don't care if you worked in a sweat shop for 3 years, 15hrs a day to make the money to buy this car. Who do you think helped you get to that job when you didn't have a car? Mom and dad. And who was there to pick you up? Mom and dad. Who pays for all your food and housing so you don't have to worry about the "real" expenses of life? Mom and dad. Who had to co-sign w/ you b/c you're too young @ 17 to buy a car and finance it? Mom and dad. Who do you know is there to back you up if you get in a pinch? Mom and dad.

These are just a few examples. When I got my car, I was in high school and I got a job @ a car dealership to make payments and insurance. But they still gave me cash to put down on the thing and a whole lot of it.

Now I'm in college, and I don't have a job at the moment. Who do you think's making those payments right now? You got it, and I thank my lucky stars for parents like that.

So how many of you are in or are going to college? Who has school expenses to cover or an apartment to pay for? Because having a job that affords you a relatively cheap car isn't all that special when you don't have school, a mortgage, a family to support, etc.

Just a little reality check.
I appreciate the fact that you brought up the parents. Even if some of us "youngens" did buy our own S2000's, there is definately a reason (other than working full time at McDonald's/Abercrombie/O'reilly's) that we were able to afford it. I think that many of us owe our parents/grandparents/guardians/whoever raised you a lot of thanks. Not just in the form of a "thank you", but by doing something meaningful with your life. Whether that something is college or work, or anything else, it doesn't matter. Someone invested much of their life to ensure that your life could be better, and I think that they deserve the satisfaction of knowing that their dedication to your life wasn't just a waist of time. I paid for my new S2k, and my old one, but I could never have dreamed of owning either one of them if it wasn't for the support of my parents. Food and shelter is worth a LOT more $ than a lot of us young people realize.

I suppose the old guys who are being so critical may think they made it all on their own, without any support from anyone else. They sure make it sound that way. People who are truely successful appreciate the fact that success doesn't happen in isolation.

I'm 22 so I'm pretty young and I must say...young people are dumb and have no respect for about 99.999999999999999999999999999999% . It's just the truth and most young people will get defensive about it but as I'm transitioning into being more mature about things I can look back and see it. I've been working since I was 12 years old but that doesn't mean anything honestly.

Who cares if you bought it yourself or with help? Doesn't mean you can't suck as a person.

Most people look back at their own lives forgetting some of the things they did at earlier ages.

Things were given to me and I paid for quite a few luxuries too. It wasn't till I was about 22 when I started respecting things more, and my maturity transitions between 18 to 25 were HUGE!

I was a hellion as a teen. I made good grades, but I still skipped school, stole liquor from the 'rents, frequented bars that accepted my fake ass ID, had unprotected sex, rooted golf courses in my truck, got picked up by the cops for stupid stuff, and I think the PC term is "experimented with drugs" - that term cracks me up . But all through it I still maintained a high enough GPA (at the best college prep school in Virginia) to get into a decent college early, and gain acceptance at every school I applied to except one. I was also able to maintain a management position through highschool, but I was a nut outside of the places I had to be good in. Respectful of others and myself.....ha!

It has been almost 10 years since I was a teen, and I think I've turned out pretty well thus far. I wouldn't dream of doing some of the things I did then.

I guess my point is, we were all there once, and most of us have grown out of it. There is a great saying: "This too shall pass".

wow there are a lot of young owners on the boards. my s2000 was bought for me by my parents. it was my reward for getting a near 4.0 gpa. i take car of my car and i respect it so much. it was my first car and i learned stick in it as well. i have been in 2 accidents (rear ended ) and i have had several other close calls which make me respect the road and the S as well.

anyways i get a lot of people who think im some spoiled rich kid who doesn't give a crap. i hate that. 99% of teenagers do act stupid though.... luckily im not one of them.

lol, this thread is pointless in my opinion. Congratulations on working hard and whatever. Honestly though, do you need to advertise that on a forum? We're all proud of you....lol.

Well, I for one hope this and the other related thread will make at least a few more people realize that it isn't the kids that are running the forums down. I know that's probably too much to expect, because old people get stuck in their ways (and I should know ), but I can hope. Personally, I think the discussion is far from pointless, even if the situation is hopeless.
