Wow. I'm impressed that you guys are able to afford things like this AND are able to be responsible with them. Making good grades only adds to it as well.

Don't be mad or annoyed that others don't believe you. It's understandable...........most people are not in your situation, so it's hard to believe! In fact, I'm struggling with it, but I'm taking you at your word! After all, if it were the norm, everyone would believe you and there would be no reason to post it here. Every other person your age would be in the same position as you are.

So in summation, enjoy that people don't believe you. It only shows that you've achieved the unbelievable!! AND continue to do the RIGHT things in life. It's a lot better than getting tied up with bad grades, drugs, alchohol and dead end jobs. Ask this 43 y.o. how he knows!

That's quite a few spelling errors for a student with a 3.9 GPA.

I was thinking the same thing.

BTW -- I bought my first new car when I was 18 and had a full-time job. It was a a FWD hatchback with a 3.0V6 that put out about 150HP, and I drove it like I stole it ALL the time. More HP, more Oversteer, and the addition of more traffic since I was 18 would make a very bad situation (that I created) even worse.

Not every 18 yr-old is as irresponsible as I was at 18, but I suspect most of them are.

No offense (and maybe I'm just nit picking or it was a series of coincidental typos), but you sure do seem to make a lot of grammatical errors for someone of your stated caliber.

And for the record, threads like these come off as a very desperate "look at me and what I did" cry for attention. It's best to let your actions speak louder than your words. You should have nothing to prove, and no one on these forums has to know your age unless you choose to show or tell them.

For all the people saying "I did it all by myself," I think you need to wake up and smell the roses. Statements like that just show your age and selfish demeanor.

I don't care if you worked in a sweat shop for 3 years, 15hrs a day to make the money to buy this car. Who do you think helped you get to that job when you didn't have a car? Mom and dad. And who was there to pick you up? Mom and dad. Who pays for all your food and housing so you don't have to worry about the "real" expenses of life? Mom and dad. Who had to co-sign w/ you b/c you're too young @ 17 to buy a car and finance it? Mom and dad. Who do you know is there to back you up if you get in a pinch? Mom and dad.

These are just a few examples. When I got my car, I was in high school and I got a job @ a car dealership to make payments and insurance. But they still gave me cash to put down on the thing and a whole lot of it.

Now I'm in college, and I don't have a job at the moment. Who do you think's making those payments right now? You got it, and I thank my lucky stars for parents like that.

So how many of you are in or are going to college? Who has school expenses to cover or an apartment to pay for? Because having a job that affords you a relatively cheap car isn't all that special when you don't have school, a mortgage, a family to support, etc.

Just a little reality check.

I just turned 20, and I am on my fourth car. I went from:

2002 WRX
to 2005 TSX
to 2004 STi
to 2002 S2k

Hard to believe I paid for them right? I worked my butt off since I was 14, because all I really ever cared about was cars. I just believe in having what you want when you can afford it. I wanted an STi since 2003 when I first heard about it, and when I could finally afford it. Once I had it, it just wasn't what I thought it would be and I found myself really wanting an S2000. Everyone thinks my parents have paid for all my cars and all of the things I've put on them, which really pisses me off.

And another thing...only one accident and that's because some idiot in a Jetta nailed me in the rear in the pouring rain. Kids can be responsible too.
We are definately not the norm for our age. Sense 19 I've had

Civic
Integra
RSX-S
TSX A-SPEC
And now my S2K and now I'll be 21 in 2 months

People always think my parents help me out a great deal and they don't. They would but I don't ask. I've loved cars my whole life and it's all I work for really. Everytime I got another one it just didn't seem to fuffil me so I tried somthin els. However all the cars I had before grad were on my parents tab and I must say that eventhough I took care of them and respected them, it is definately not the same kind of pride in ownership you have when it's your hard work paying for it. So I applaud you man

And for those that keep saying you know and respect this car and would never do anything stupid, think again. You just might stay true to your word, but let me tell you, having a sports car, at any age, is like having a bomb strapped to you at all times. You might always manage to keep your cool, but the opportunity is there...the opportunity for you get a little wild, for something to go kaboom. These cars beckon you to do something, just a little something, to have a little fun. That temptation is there, always lurking @ the back of your mind.

I said I'd be the most responsible guy in the world...never anything stupid. And for the most part, I kept it real. I don't have any tickets or wrecks w/ other vehicles, but one night, when my cousin in town, I thought it'd be fun to do a few donuts in a cove. I think you know how this is going to end up. I've done em before w/ no problem, but this time, I was more concerned w/ showing off a little and not so focused on the task at hand. I did one, I did two. I stopped. I figured I'd have one more go, but didn't cut the wheel fast enough, hit a gravel patch and went straight over an 8in curb. Imagine having to call your dad at 9:30 to tell him what happened. He said once the car was fixed, it was gone. My dream had come to an end.

Now he let me keep it, but you better be damn sure I was on my best behavior for the next month. I had to earn that car back. It can happen. These cars can get the best of you. So watch out, especially w/ others around you or in the car b/c your ego can get the best of you, even if you think you don't have one.

When I was 16 my parents got me a 2004 Dodge SRT-4 as a first car. VERY bad idea. On my own, I was (and still am) a very conservative driver, and respected the car, but my friends all owned fast cars, and coaxed me into street racing with them every weekend.

My SRT-4 saw 150 mph SEVERAL times... and triple digit speeds more times than I could count. Obviously a 16 year old behind the wheel of a tin can Dodge Neon going 150 mph is a recipe for disaster... I still don't know how I didn't wreck that car, or how I'm not dead or in jail.

I had the SRT-4 for a couple years, and I loved that little thing, I still miss it. I saw a used 2003 S2000 at a Honda dealer this past June, and my parents got it for me to take to college, and gave the SRT-4 to my older sister (she loves it just as much as I did).

My point is, I'm almost 19, and now that I have my S2000, I've only hit 100 mph in it once in the 5 months I've owned it, and I go into VTEC only half the time I drive it. I wouldn't be surprised for people to claim I really drive like a granny.
