Dude just sell your rims. Get your advans, and if they even notice, tell then you messed up your rims going to work and these are your replacments.

I use to do that all the time when I was in HS, parents didn't want me spending any money on my civic, so I would say stuff broke, and the aftermarket parts were replacement parts ONLY !

Coming from strict asian parents as well, I totally understand. Best to just follow what they say for now even though it is your own money. I don't know how old you are but you'll understand it better as you get older why you're/our parents do this. Trust me, you don't want to have any big fights with your parents because if their anything like mine, they can hold big long grudges regardless if their wrong or right. Just wait till you finish school, I'm pretty sure your parents will not care what you do or buy after you finish that. It is the top priority. Don't worry too much about it. Just understand that they are not depriving you, but their making the best out of your time and money. The wheels will always be around to buy, but education is something no one can ever take away from you.

Hey you are lucky to have such parents. I know that it sucks right now but they are really looking out for you. Believe me as a parent of twin 14 year old girls and a 17 year old boy, you will understand someday and be thankful.
way to predict his future!

I wish my parents had pounded that mentality into me when I was a teen. If I had invested all that time and money I spent on stupid things like wheels for my cars I'd be rolling in a Lambo right now instead of a Honda.

This goes against the spirit of s2ki.com and most of its members and the car scene in general, but blowing money on wheels is retarded. They'll make your car, a piece of metal, look cooler. That's it. They won't make YOU look cooler. They also won't make you smarter, taller, more educated or intelligent. They won't give you a raise or advance your career. They won't get you laid more. They might, however, impress other young dudes that are in the car scene. Think about that for a second... spending money to impress other GUYS. I don't know dude....

Invest in assets that appreciates over time. Invest in things that produce income. Invest in yourself.

I agree with this 90% of the time. And the fact that you own an S2000 simply suggests that you really feel the same. We're all on this board because of the love we have for our cars....which is probably the worst depreciating asset besides electronics.

No. He's now allowed. His parents say no, so the answer is no. Not worth the battle really.

Guys, thank you for your input!

However, I did talk to me dad today, and he gave me the ok!

I said, "I can sell my wheels and I'll buy you tires!"

He said, "Thank you for your concern, but use it to help with the wheels!"

And he talked to me mom for me, now she's ok with it too!

So, I just got permission from my parents that I can get wheels! And, I already have a local buyer for my AP2 wheels!

And, to clear things up, I am financially stable since my parents are the one that manges my money. Every cent I make goes to them. And, keep track of every cent I spend. Strict parents.

Financing education is no problem for me. I only pay a little bit from my pocket thanks to Hope and Hope Grant!

Also, I paid for the car myself and title is under my name. Don't be under the impression that I'm spoiled. My parents taught me the lesson of hard work and struggle.
