IF ANYONE has had problems shifting into 1st, 2nd, or reverse, please post here!!!
The 1st to 2nd gear grind is driver error, not tranny, unless you legitmately have a 2nd gear synchro problem... either your winding your 1st gear out too far and trying to bang 2nd, or you need to change the angle you shift at to accomodate where the synchro is.
try clutching a few times b4 going into 1st or reverse if it seems "stuck" forcin shit aint good.

wow..funny this post pops up. mine has gotten REAL bad the past few weeks. It is a pain in the ass to get it into any gear, especially reverse, and im grinding gears like crazy. sometimes it just wont go into any gear at all. also, sometimes when i put it in first at a stop (clutch pushed all the way in) it will start to roll forward like an idle, then stop when i take it out of gear - all with out releasing the clutch. it also seems to "stick" in gear and i have to rip it out. i was hoping new clutch/tranny fluid would make it a little easier but i guess not after reading this post.

Good to see some of the originals are still around. I used to have a 1-2 grind when the weather was hot, but switched to Redline MT90 about 6 years ago and no more grinds. 7 years and 165k miles and still on original clutch and trans.
