Your going to find a million opinions and a million reasons "why". I will give you mine and you can go from there. If water soak isn't a problem, the AEM CAI is the best replacement for the stock airbox. The combination of the long tube and the access to cold air is what will improve performance.

If you're looking for more HP or torque, I vote for saving your money and using the OEM system. I keep using the OEM filter because it's cheap, easy to find, and works.

If you want something that sounds awesome, I like the K&N.

I had an AEM and removed it. It didn't do much for me.

K&N and a Spoon knock-off snorkle from eBay. OEM is fine...not much improvement with any CAI.

AEM isnt worth the box its packaged in. dont waste your money on it. it sounds great, robs all your low end to make 5peak whp. outta five races with a stock s2k, id put my money on the stock car. the OEM intake its really awesome, providing the best overall blend of low/mid/peak power.

with tuning the KN FIPK has produced some good power, but other than that intakes that dont look like hair dryers are a waste of money.

Best idea in my opinion as well.I think I'm going to use the AUT Design carbon fiber cooling plate along with a K N. Very inexpensive setup and it really just a J's racing knock off.
