Looks great! Thx for posting results.

The dB level change might not seem impressive to some, until they learn that a 3dB reduction is basically reducing sound level in half. So its actually a huge difference.

Kudos to you on your coverage of the dynamat type material. Most mistakenly think more is better, or even that full coverage is required. They should do more like what you did, which is actually even quite a bit more than what is required. 25%.

A concern, the photo inside door, the material still has some of its waffle pattern. You're supposed to roll it until ots flat, no pattern visible. Its not about making sure it doesn't fall off. That stuff only works by making strong, full contact with the material its damping. It adds mass, which changes resonant frequency. Can only change mass if it truely becomes part of the material its damping by making strong, full contact.

Maybe you took pic before finishing rolling. Just wanted to mention this for those following your well exectued path.

My DNA is definitely all over the inside of both my doors. Looked like a crime scene in there.

I know what you are saying about the pattern still being there!! I rolled the @$%#& out of it, I was afraid if I rolled any harder I would imprint the door skin to the point you could see it on the outside so I think I'm good!
Yes I was impressed with the change in DBs in the car with just doing the doors. At first I noticed almost no change or even an increase, then I realized I was enjoying my new speakers so much I had forgot to mute them!!
And yeah, my DNA is all over the garage floor and the doors, but I'm old and a bleeder anyway it was fully expected!
Cant wait to see what extra difference doing the floors do, and parts of the trunk... I'm sure I'll have some material left to do at least part of it.
Also the bottom of my "parcel shelf" has about an inch of factory "insulation" (I'll take a pic when I get out there) so not sure what else I can do with that.
Supposed to rain most of the day today so a good day to work on my little project.

Passenger side is done, driver side after lunch.

That dark square in front of the "hump" really made a drum sound when knocked on!

So I put a big square of Siless up there.

Going with not full coverage I did do a bit more than 25% coverage though.

Originally I had the Thinsulate wrapping up on the tunnel and door sill some. (See bottom picture I could not figure out how to edit it and put it here)

That made the carpet not fit however , so I trimmed it back to just cover the flat part of the floor.

Behind the seat there is an open area which leads to the trunk so I put a little piece of insulation in there.

The panel that goes there actually has a vent in it, not sure the purpose of venting it, but if there is good reason to do so that piece is easily removeable... thoughts??

Ok, I removed that piece of insulation there, left a couple pieces in the voids in there to buffer noise a little though, but will still let air flow through.

Finished doing the floors and didn't seem to do much good, the decibels in the car didn't change much.. In fact it went up a bit!! Music still sounds better..

I was wondering if the mystery wire you found was for the XM radio option. I recall seeing something like that in my 2009. Never used.

In addition to being the exit path for top up, fresh air ventilation, those vents behind seats assist when closing doors top up.

With the vents blocked, the top is going to be under more stress as air tries to pop it up as doors shut.

Are you talking about the one under the seat?? Could be I suppose.. the ones terminating in the trunk were definitely not factory.

So all in all I think the doors were worth the time, the floors not so much.

Thanks for taking the time to document the sound/noise levels on this project.

Mystery cable set hiding under the seat may not even be OEM to your car. "Pretty sure" the XM-capable radios didn't arrive until 2006 and the 2006-07 radios have a CD/XM button on the radio.

Time to start your UK Exhaust thread!
