Just to update this thread, thank you @A.O. for the detailed write up - I'm going to be doing a similar project to my own car and will report back with results for an AP1 (if I'm not mistaken yours is an AP2?), to see if the gearing changes noticeably impact effectiveness. I'll probably get around to it this month, so I'll update then

 

That it correct, mine is an AP2. Have fun with your project! I have not yet done the trunk, and not positive I will, but I have enough left over materials to do so so we'll see.
