I do not jack up the car by these rails, but use them to place the jackstands, as stated. Those weak little folded over/pinched locations along the perimeter of the body are stronger in your opinions???
Just curious, where do you jack up your car in order to place the jackstands underneath?

So is the differential an "officially approved by Honda" jack point?

According to the Honda S2000 shop manual I have, yes it is, along with something under the engine which I cannot identify.

I use those weak little folded over/pinched locations and get a jack stand under a solid place like the frame rail and rear subframe as soon as possible.

Nice try, but I won't be backed into a corner so easily. Hahaha (I play chess too).

No worries guys, at least we are all smart enough to use jackstands in the first place. Everytime I see a stock scissor lift and no stand, I just cringe. Its good to be safe.

So, this photo from the "How-To Oil Change" on S2Ki is wrong? The first "support" piece behind the front wheels is not a jacking point as shown in this photo? If it is wrong, are ramps enough to get under the car to remove the drain plug? Or can you jack from the right rear side and place the stand under the front right side? Lots of questions!

I was just going to do my first oil change, but now I'm unsure how best to raise the car enough to get under it safely.

Thanks for your help.

Ramps are enough. The only problem is that you have to drive or push the car off the ramps to let the oil drain properly, and then drive/push the car back onto the ramps in order to replace the drain plug. I am a bit squeamish about driving a car without oil, even for a few seconds.
