K&N FIPK VS Comptech Cold Intake
#51
At speed, there's no way you're going to be pulling hot air into the intake. It sits in the corner where there is a clear channel down to the front of the car, where cool air flows in.
That may change on a dyno, where you only have a fan sitting there and it's possibly easier for air to come in from above the intake (ie, preheated air from around the engine) than up through the bumper (which is what happens in the real world, since the hood is normally closed and air doesn't flow so easily into the intake from behind/around it).

I bought my FIPK from a friend parting out his AP1. Drilled a hole and put in the rubber gasket for my Intake temp sensor on MY06. I love it, great sound, and perfect fitament, and great price.

I've found it as low as $219 on ebaymotors.com
one question about the cooling plates, when you guys install them, do you cut a hole in the stock radiator splash panel or do you totally take it out?

If you want a K&N FIPK, pm "BlownAP" - he works for them and can get them at a good price ($180 + shipping is what he told me).

i tried to PM him but he never replied
as far as the cooling plate question - take out the stock radiator plate and buy the AUT radiator cooling plate that has the air duct to go over the radiator. it lines up perfectly with the FIPK and IMO is the best functional intake system for the money.
