Default Keyless Remote Transmitter

When I see these things come up for auction on Ebay...should I be interested???

I purchased my S2K from CarMax with no valet key and no extra Keyless Remote Transmitter... Just one Master Key attached to one Keyless Remote Transmitter. So every now and again, it bugs me that one day I'm going to be sorry that I don't have an extra key and/or remote if I were to dumb up and lock my set in the trunk or such...

So...to the question above...can these remotes that pop up on Ebay be "re-programmed", and if so, easily???

...Curious...

Thanks!

I'll assume you have the factory alarm system and in that case, these transmitters can be re-programmed. The instructions that came with alarm provide instructions on doing so - it's quite easy.

Interestingly however, when I got my s2k, It had come with the usual two transmitters, two keys, and one valet key - but inside the cupholder after I brought the car home, I found two more random transmitters.

So I programmed these transmitters from the cupholder and everything went great. When I use these two transmitters that were in the cupholders, the LED for the alarm doesn't flash - but all other functions are ok (ie. lock; unlock; trunk; panic)

I'm assuming that the two transmitters I found in the cupholders were for the keyless entry part of the car - which explains why the LED doesn't flash.

Also, when I lock the car with the transmitter from the cupholders, and later unlock the car with the transmitter given to me by the dealer, the alarm wails! So these two pairs of transmitters are not interchangable. Another suggestion that those are simply keyless entry transmitters

Something to keep in mind while searching for a transmitter. Sorry for the long post and I hope this helps somewhat.

By the way, if you have another Honda with keyless remote (I also have a CRV), your S2000 can be programmed to work with that transmitter. In other words, one transmitter works for two (or more) cars - less stuff to carry around in your pocket.
