Definitely considering this for my high mileage/oil consuming MY00.

Does this cause a CEL?

No, it wouldn't be related to any CEL's.

So is this a Comptech part or gain it be bought from a third party? It's probably just some type of PCV valve off another kind of car.
Comptech started using it (they don't make it) with the 06 prototype, and they recommend retrofitting it to 04, 05 cars. It is enough to cover STOCK PSI.

If I was turbo or supercharged with over 7 PSI, I will recomend to get the krank vents they are stronger but for someone with N/A or stock PSI I know that the one that comptech is giving is strong enough.

If you buy the Krank Vents, YOU DO NOT WANT TO USE BOTH, only the one that is getting pressurized.

PS I am not a mechanic, I just read a lot about this and then I spoke with comptech mechanics about it when I drop/pick up my car.

The krank vents use 2 units. Your PCV valve you got from comptech is just one unit. They do not do the same thing.
You only need one unit, the one that goes to the valve covers, the other is not need it. Be advise that this is what I read and what I was told by comptech mechanics. I personally don't know much about it but I agree with the logic.

It took a couple of years to comptech to realize that the 04, 05 had a weaker stock PCV, so I know that it has to be taken with a grain of salt but, the need for the second PCV is NOT there. Read the shop manual if in question.

You need two to maintain the vacuum in the head.

Except that wouldn't make the system actually work like how this device was actually ment to though. This isn't meant to be a shiny PCV...it comes with two units to create a vacuum within the crankcase.
