I just did this using high-density foam weather stripping because I didn't have the other foam around the house.

Hopefully it will work for a while

Thanks for the writeup! it silenced my latches but I noticed it's a little harder to close the latch now. But that's a small price to pay for the annoying rattles!

Thanks for the instructions, been ignoring those latch rattles for the while now and finally silenced them today.

I used pre-foamed upholstery vinyl cut into 1.5"x0.75" strips and they stuffed in easily with one of those fake credit cards you get in the mail to avoid any possible scratches.

Worked great

hmm... the noises came back. Although it's a different sounding rattle this time. It's more of a thump.

I've been reading that some of you have been taking off the latch handle to stuff the stripping in there. How do you this? I don't see any screws anywhere to remove the handle.

i wonder if this would help with my hardtop too. I'll have to give it a try.

I've been driving with the rattle for almost 1 year. Fixed it in 5 minutes after reading this thread. Thanks

I used the EPT sealant, which stopped the rattle. What is the Shin-etsu grease for? Where does it go?
