They limit the springs' compression when the car is tied down so it won't bounce around during shipping. They are inserted in between the coils of the springs.

On UK cars at least the trunk can be opened when the engine is running, its just a mechanical link.

Check oil regularly and be prepared to top up with dino juice, I went synthetic at 8,000 , some people go earlier, if its not burning oil then thats the right time I believe.

Read book regarding flat tyres!!

Ask this board if you're unsure about something before going to the dealer!

Go easy on the brakes for 200 miles or so until they bed in.

Don't scrimp on type of fuel, put the best in going.

I'm sure there are many more, buts a good start.

Here's an alternative to that felt-covered tube for the rear window. Carry a soft terrycloth towel in your trunk. When you want to put the top down, tuck the towel under the edge of the top outside where it overlaps and covers the plastic window on three sides (top + either side). Then lower the top normally. The towel will protect the plastic from scratches and creasing. Use a cleaner made especially for the plastic (NOT WINDEX!) like 3m Plastic Cleaner or Meguiar's or Plexus.

Enjoy your car and welcome to the board; you'll find it enjoyable.

Ivs2K,
Can you explain a little better where to put the towel?
Is a full size bath towel too big?
Do you put the towel on with the top still fully up or partly lowered?
Can you put the towel into the well that the top retracts into?
I'm sorry I'm so dense but I didn't fully follow your post above.

Barry
no scratches but quite a crease so far.
