To the person who is still having problems, open the door and while it is still unlocked ( and before it locks itself) push the lock button. It should not lock. If it does, then it is probably one of the two things Colin mentioned.

good one!

Since his door is locking on it's own, I meant for him to push the lock button before it locks on his own. I'll word my post better just for you.

I knew what you ment so did everyone else, just kidding around. I hope I didn't offend. That's a great logicalway to find out if the door is registering closed/open correctly.

No offense taken. I knew it was all in fun. It takes quite a bit to offend me. Besides, I like being a smart ass, too!!

Colin, Yes the dome light goes on when the dor is opened.

SoDak, I don't get that, I believe the door always locks when you push the lock button. Is it supposed to not lock when the door is open?

Mine does not. I wish it was like Toyota...my mom's Lexus locks and sounds a tone to let you know it's locked, when you close the door all is well.

If the door is open and you try to push the lock button you wont be able to do more than flex it a little it wont actually lock. Freaks me out but thats how its supposed to be so his idea is if the dorr is open and youcan push the lock button then the door is registring closed when its open and that would be the cause of your problem.

The car doesn't know the door is open for some reason. This is why your auto-relock funcion works even after you open up the door. The only question is why?
