locking poltergeist
I do not have any optional factory or aftermarket security systems. The door button was not stuck and I for what its worth yes, it will lock again if I unlock it twice. Thanks again for the replies. Anyone know what might cause this? I am well beyond warranty.
Hockey,
It seems you have the same problem although mine is evey time now, it used to be more inttermittent. Has yours ever locked with the door open? I wonder if it is more than a coincidence that we both have a 00 MY??

Just a thought, but is it possible that there is another Honda remote near you that shares the same code as your remote? There is a limited number of remote codes (just like keys), so it is possible that there is more than one remote with the same code as yours in the same area. Just throwing that out there.

anyone?
I'm not sure if it'll lock with the door open. I'll go run a quick experiment.
OKAY experiment run.......no it doesn't lock with the door open. As a matter of fact, the poltergeist seems to have vacated! It wouldn't do it at all now. The only thing that has changed is that the battery has been disconnected a couple times while at the body shop. Maybe this resets the computer beyond pulling the 3rd fuse for the ECU (which I have done a few times without effecting the gremlins). Just a theory, since we don't really know what is going on here.
Ofcourse I say that it is gone, and it will come back with a vengeance!! Probably lock my keys inside and giggle at me.
Hey excel,
If you read my post and compared it to the manual you would see that what is happening to me is not normal per the manual. Perhaps you need to read yours again, lol.

The manual says that it is only supposed to lock if you do not open either door. After pushing the unlock button-- "If you do not open either door, the light will go out in about 30 seconds and the doors will automatically relock." Mine however relocks after opening the door, closing the door and even with it open!!!
Hey elviscos, I dont actually have any advice, except disconnecting the battery sounds like a good idea, I just think its funny how many people keep telling you to read the manual like your an idoit, when what your describing is clearly not normal. To restate for those who insist on replying without reading the whole thread: It is normal for the doors to automatically relock after 30sec if no doors are opened, it is not normal for the doors to relock if a door is opened.
