A friend of mine had it in his Integra. Car got stolen, police tracked it down the next day.

I had my integra stolen once... they stripped the body parts(hood, bumper fender, headlights) but didn't touch the engine...

Just spoke to somebody who had his Vette stolen. He has the new Lojack that notifies you when the vehicle is moved. His car was located in about an hour
I am SO getting one when I buy my car.

coworker had it in his integ (which was paid in cash and only had liability).

car was stolen overnight from his driveway. Once he reported it he learned:

1. lojack is in 1 of 10 places or something like that on your car. An experienced theif, given enough time (not much) could probably find it and destroy it.

2. lojack only works over like a 1 or 2 mile range. If they took your car to a place not too far where cops don't drive by often, they won't find your car. The cops don't drive all over town trying to find your car. It's just if they happen to get the signal while driving around on patrol or whatever.

He never got his car back. He never got $ from the insurance company and was out basically a nice $20,000+ car (it was stock). He ended up with a $6000 saab. How sad.

Why wouldn't the insurance pay for his stolen car?!

Well they only pay for what it's currently worth. They don't pay to replace it, which sucks.

The post says he only had liability insurance. I'm not sure why someone would pay cash for a $20,000 car and then be too cheap to get comprehensive insurance for it. He gambled and lost and I hope he learned his lesson.

There is the story of the NSX owner who purchased the car used, didn't have insurance. Was in a bar w/some friends, walked outside, it was raining, the car was gone, parking place empty and dry, called police, asked if he had lojack, said no, police called lojack anyway and they found the car, with lojack.

yes, your ins. pays for the car, but
1. they only give you the USED car value for the car (read: we get shafted),
2. they have you in rental car for a few weeks, and
3.they raise your premium or drop you once they pay for it.
4.If you are financing your car you also lose your tax title and lic.

For around 695 you can get lojack with a lifetime warranty, and $5000 cash back for your next car if they can't find it.
