looking to get an s2000 for a daily driver

Honestly my friends honda accord v6 feels faster then the s2000....
If you think the Accord V6 is faster than you should get one.
As for a S2000 being your "beater", a beater is supposed to be some POS car. Our S2000 doesn't fit into that category so go look elsewhere for your "beater" like getting another Celica or some domestic crap, like a Camaro SS.

Now if you would have said, "looking to get an s2000 for a daily driver", there would be no issues. Many people here use their S as their daily driver (myself included). Unfortunantly that is not how you chose to title your thread...

that issue has actually been addressed earlier in this thread....

You stated it had "headers" and a "cat back" exhaust. What kind? Were they installed properly??? Where they "Ebay"..."Rice-Master" power specials??? If I were you, I would not even consider that S2K.
I think it is hard to establish an opinion of a car by driving only one example. Especially, one that was modded. I have a stock MY04 and I can honestly tell you it "feels" and is "faster" than an Accord.
And although you sound like you are trying to defuse the situation lightly, you still refer to the car as "slow" in most of your posts. Its blatantly obvious the car is not slow. if you wanted a slower sportscar, look at the bmw z3, the kompresser mercedes, the mr2 spyder, the prelude, the celica, the tiburon, the bla bla bla... most street cars can't keep up with an s2000. its a 'fast', very VERY nice car, its in a class of its own, and i dont think anyone wants someone owning it who slams it in his first post and continues to offhandedly down it like, "an accord is faster". puhhhhlleeeze. this female i know has a v6 accord and she creams when she sees my cars speed and style. cmon guy, have some class if you want this car. no one cares about Camaro SS's or whatever you ave, this car is thousands of times better in many different ways. so if you do get it... you'll have something special that i doubt you'll appreciate or understand
When I was in my friend's Sentra SE-R, it felt REALLY FAST with all of its torque but when we took it to the strip it was half a second slower than my Si. Butt dyno lies and butt dyno usually bias towards torque not neccessary the speed of the car and how fast it accelerates.
My friend who owns 300Z came to my house and we took the S out on a ride the first weekend I got S. He was NOT impressed at all and he does not believe S has 240hp or even 0-60 under 6 seconds is possible. Time sheet proven on the 1/4 miles that my S is faster than him by many car length.
That is all irrelevant but I will not call a car slow based on butt dyno. It shows your lack of competence. S is design to go around the corner and put that big smile on your face.
You can choose a car that is fast or feel fast but keep in mind there are alway someone faster than you.
I choose S for its speed, style and fun to drive characteristics. I will take my wife and S to the beach and cruise around. I will take my S to the track, autoX, mountain trails and I will enjoy the sun with the top down.

Just because I have read this whole thread and want to add my 2cents.
1. I love my S2000 ('02) It is the funnest, most enjoyable car I have ever owned (not a big selection @ 35 years old it is only my 5th car)
2. My S is my daily driver, my beater, my grocery store car, my pick-up the "kid" car, etc. I also let anyone drive it. I let our little girl drive it (she's 18).
3. I live in Western, MA. Average snowfall is ~70 - 100inches and once the snow shows up it's there for the season. I drive my S with Blizzak snows and the hard top and this includes many (4 times this past winter) 4am trips to the airport before the plows have even touched the roads and have NEVER had any problems.
My thanks to XViper for this one. If it were not for his posts regarding winter driving I never would have bought the S. I am a cheap basturd and have never owned 2 cars. Just can't do it.
4. I don't really care what anyone thinks about my car. I didn't buy it for them. I bought it for me. Call it a poor man's porsche. A girl's car, whatever I love it and:
5. For the money, no one is in second place. Article after article the S2000 is compared to BMW, Corvettes, Audis, etc which ALL cost $15,000+ more than the S. Last time I checked 15 grand was ALOT of money.

Jsmooth, thanks for the feedback....
I really started this thead w/ no bad intentions, but some of the annoying comments and the "other" thread that was started kind of turned this into a pissing match between my camaro and s2000, something I never intended!!
LS1 owners are always duking it out w/ supra, cobra, and viper owners in regards to which platform is the best, internet rivalry is nothing new....
thanks to the mod for changing the thread title.......
this thread can also be closed if the mods prefer.... the tsb list and difference between model years was what I basically wanted out of this thread, thanks to those who gave me good info

do most of you get around 25mpg with your cars? Are these cars as reliable as most hondas/toyotas? I read about some oil consumption issues but I am not worried about that, i guess I am just looking for feedback from other people who have s2000's as daily drivers.....

Anyway, I am using my S as weekday car to work, rain or shine. I rarely use it on weekend for reason that I need a sedan to carry 3 people. My S is only 9,850 miles and no problems so far, no oil consumption after first oil change at 3,750 miles. My fuel mileage is about 20 MPG to 22 MPG for mostly city speed limit and short distance of about 5 miles each way. Many others get about 23 MPG to 25 MPG for mixed driving.
