Default Low Beam Projector Bulb

I didn't know if this should be posted in Mods, Talk, Under the Hood, or Electronics, but this thread seems to get more replies.

As you can probably tell from my signature, I bought my car wrecked. When I picked it up, there were no headlights or xenon projector computers. I found a set of Silverstar bulbs that fit, soldered on some connectors, and wired the lights up striaght. (I did this to pass Kentucky inspection).

The only problem is the are very, very dim. As a result of this, I am forced to drive using only my highbeams. This really pisses drivers off, as it would me.

My question is, can I just get the low beam projector bulb ($70 from the Honda dealer) and wire it in straight, as I did witht he Silverstars? Or do I need the projector computers?

Thanks guys.

You need all the hardware for xenon headlights as they require over 20,000 volts to ignite the xenon gas inside them so the 70 dollar bulbs should be the least of your concern

Just curious. I was just trying to avoid buying the computers, as they seem to cost about $400.

Are there any bulbs that have a blue tint, but won't reflect back when they hit the projector lens?

so you put a halogen bulb into our projector? that is why they are dim. what type of bulb did you stick in there? just some regular halogen size like 9005? or something? there is no halogen bulb that will light up the road inside an hid projector because the bowl design is completely different from a halogen projector.

you will need to buy the ballasts and bulbs to your factory headlight wiring harness. there is no possibly way to wire our harness up to just the bulb. 1 because D2S bulbs dont just have a + and - wire hanging out you need an ignitor from the ballast to charge them up. and 2 you wont get enough power to ignite the bulb without the ballast.

fyi, projector computer = ballast

there is NO WAY youll get good output with a halogen bulb like what your doing. NO WAY

if you have any questions give me a holler.

please wire them up correctly because our lights are rated number 2 out of ALL factory made projectors and hid. BEAUTIFUL LIGHTS. USE EM!

Yeah, it was an 857 Silverstar. They have two prongs. I soldered connectors onto the wires which power the ballasts.

I've heard it both ways, but thanks. I know what to call it from now on

I know, that's why I want to make them right! By the way, what lights are #1?

Thanks for the help. I'll keep an eye on the FS thread.

yea no halogen bulb is going to light that projector up like its supposed to.

the number 1 projector is the lexus ls460 projector just because it is a tad bit wider than ours.

yea just keep an eye out for it, they usually come up for sale on ebay or here.
