Telling you that a "Service" event is due after driving so many miles. Usually it is only an oil change but could include tire rotation filter change spark plugs etc... You will have to refer to the manual for what is due at the mileage you are near.

Generic statement on why the light would be on... It is more a reminder to go look at the manual for what is suppose to happen at the mileage... On other Honda's you can rotate tires... S you can technically if you mount and dismount (if using directional tires...)

It's a mileage based maintenance minder. You need to reset it after you address the maintenance due at that mileage (refer to the schedule). It's not a CEL.

"not sure why"
"scaring the shit out of me"
"not sure what it could be"

Do you have any concept of what the word "MAINTENANCE" might possibly mean?
If that scares the shit out of you, don't turn around. Your shadow is there.

Our OEM wheels are staggered (wider in the rear, narrower in the front) and most tires are directional. So you can't rotate the tires.

Yeah the Maintenance Required light comes on every so many miles (can't remember exactly how many) but it's pretty much just a reminder to change your oil and such. I don't go by this light since I change my oil before than the light turns on. To reset it, turn the ignition switch to LOCK. Press and hold the trip meter reset button and turn the ignition to the ON position. Continue holding the trip button until the Maint Req light turns off.

With the car off put the key in. Hold the trip reset button and continue holding it and turn the key to the on position. Keep holding it. It will reset the maintenance light until the next oil change interval comes up.

^ I believe it starts flashing when you turn the car on after 3k miles and stays on after 5k. It will stop once you reset it. It is just telling you to change the oil and if you have a service center change your oil sometimes they don't reset it.

The first time i saw it was after I installed my SC and it scared the **** out of me. It is absolutely nothing to worry about though and just a reminder light.
