Maintenance Required Light...
I was just driving home from work and suddenly I noticed my Maintenance Reguired Light blinking. I immediately freaked out. The light stopped blinking after a few seconds...
So, when I arrived home, I check the owners manual and it says that the light should begin to blink at 6000 miles and will continue to blink until 7500 miles. Currently, I have 5969 miles on my car, so I guess the computer was off by a few miles.
If I reset the light, will it not blink again for another 6000 (or 5969) miles????

Mine started about where yours did. I have no idea what the exact mileage is for the light to engage. Glad you found the info on how to reset it. When I first read it I didn't think it would work.
The Honda dealer will need to reset the light. . .unless you know how to do this.
I have heard several ways to do it, but don't honestly believe any of them would actually work!
The Honda light should flash for a few seconds upon start up once you are getting close to the specified mileage. As you get closer, it will flash longer and then eventually stay lit throughout your drives until you have the dealer reset it.
Be cautious of this! I have my S2000 serviced at the same dealership as I bought it from and when 15k miles came around, I had the light on. There was a new guy working the service area and I told him to do an oil change and reset the light.
He said, "No, sorry. . .you'll need to pay for the 15k service to have us do that." Very well, I thought. This is not the first Honda I have owned so I am very familiar with the necessary service schedules. I looked at their menu which only showed what was actually performed---not the price. I asked, what's it going to cost? He said, "Hmmmm, for an S2000, let me check." He pulls out a book and says $249.
I laugh and tell him to just do what I originally asked. I spoke to the service manager and voila. . .maintenance light was turned off with a $21.95 oil change. . .I saved over $220!
Now, I know what you are thinking! Trust me, I would have had the service done if they would have actually been doing some work. Everything on the list said "check." Well, in my book, check should'nt cost much. Plus, the service included tire rotation---which is not necessary or possible with the S2000 because of the different tire sizes and rotation requirements. So, basically it would have been a super profitable, glorified oil change!
Oh, yeah. . .the new service guy. . .no longer works there! I'm sure it was not my doing. . .hahahaha

So how do you reset the light?
"To reset the maintenance required indicator, turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position, then press and hold the trip meter reset button while you turn the ignition switch to ON. Continue holding the button until the indicator resets (the indicator light goes out)."
Good enough? Haven't tried it yet. Have only 900 miles.
