Wow..
Love this blog man... Glad you arrived to your destination in one piece and that all your encounters (yes even the one with the cops) went well.. although that was nerve wrecking I bet, even reading it was crazy...
Thanks again for sharing your cross country trip with us...
Out of curiousity what exactly do you do? for a living? Just curious, since most of us here well....to take a trip like that only comes as a dream due to money, time constraints, and other sorts of things...
Please share with us your secret to your successful venture, so that we may do it to!!!

Well I do lots of things. I worked for Haliburton and Morgan Stanley. My education background is finance in undergrad, with a J.D.
Currently among few other things, I am a humanitarian lawyer for the European Commission and I work with helping women fighting for their rights in SE Asia/S. Africa/S. America and work with children with AIDS.
It isn't rocket science. When there is a will, there is a way.

I wish I had a cape. I get paid in Euro though.
Anyways, on a serious note, I am happy doing what I do. Always wanted to be in this line of work, but wasn't able to with Law School loan. So did the evil corp thing, enough moolah to pay for real estate, loans, and toys and now do what I choose to do

Jay,
Everyone talks about taking it, but very few do. I had lots of friends from S2ki/miata.net/elise talk. When I was going to do the trip, asked many, but not many CAN do it, just WANT to. Big difference.
It is a great experience, and I highly recommend it.

I definitely need to do this; maybe not a transcontinental, but some sort of roadtrip where I can drive east of Arizona or Nevada

Loanshark, thanks for sharing your personal info. Amazing work man. I use to work for HIV/AIDS families here in florida for many years. Its a very eye opening, take away your pre-conceived notion type of work. Very gratifiying and sometimes very sad.
Great stuff you are doing. So well deserved transcontinental trip you took. You have inspired many of us in this forum.....
